The UK’s creative industries continue to outgrow the rest of the economy, generating £84.1bn of value for the country during 2014.
Baftas 2016: The Revenant rules at Baftas
The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, dominated this year’s Baftas but there was plenty of British representation; Mark Rylance won best supporting actor for his role as a British-born Soviet agent in Bridge of Spies, outstanding British film, went to period drama Brooklyn, in which Saoirse Ronan plays a young Irish woman who emigrates to New York and both supporting acting prizes went to British winners.

Star Wars proves the force of UK Creativity
All seven Star Wars movies were filmed in the UK, with British designers, technicians and production experts providing key contributions to the iconic series. The re-boot of the franchise, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘, which following its release in late 2015 quickly became the highest-grossing film of all time in the UK, also includes young British actors in two of the lead parts.
